Course length: 2 days
Description: The purpose of this course is to provide an
understanding of how call setup and Number Portability is accomplished using
the SS7 protocol in the Common Channel Signaling (CCS) network. The SS7 Protocol is used to set up voice
paths, and query databases to make services work. The CCS network is used to
pass information between the nodes and applications in the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN). This course
provides an understanding of the CCS node functions, link designations, network
architectures, message flows and message structure.

Exercises
will provide a real world understanding of the message used to setup and tear
down interoffice calls and route calls to Ported Numbers. Students will use SS7 captures to look at
appropriate messages, interpret message content and understand troubleshooting
techniques.
